Your First Appointment

We are always happy to welcome new patients to Redmond Dental Care. Whether you come to us with a specific concern, have not had regular dental treatment in many years or are simply looking for a new dentist, we will always welcome you into our friendly, modern practice and provide you with the highest standard of care.

When you come in for your first appointment, you'll meet Debbie or Geraldine at reception. We have a long-standing team at Redmond Dental Care; Debbie and Geraldine have been with us for many years and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. They will give you a medical history form to complete so we know any issues that may affect treatment, and the form also has space where you can let us know any presenting concerns, such as toothache or a lost crown, and any aspirations you may have for your smile, such as straighter teeth or replacement teeth in the form of dental implants.

Once you've completed your form you'll meet Karen, our nurse manager, who will take you into one of our modern treatment rooms to meet Keith, your dentist. After talking through any presenting concerns and aspirations you may have indicated, Keith will carefully examine your teeth, gums and surrounding structures. He will also take x-rays as necessary, for example to see the condition of your teeth under fillings and crowns, so that he has all the information to recommend the right course of treatment and to present all the treatment options to you, enabling you to make an informed choice. You'll also be able to see what Keith sees thanks to special cameras used inside your mouth, which display images on a screen beside the dentist's chair.

Should we find you need treatment, we'll discuss all the options available to you, including advantages and disadvantages, estimated costs and treatment times. Please do ask us any questions you might have about treatments at this time, too.

Some small issues, such as needing a small filling, may be dealt with in the same appointment. For larger and more complex courses of treatment, we'll provide you with a printed treatment plan including estimated costs, timeframe and how many appointments you will need. If you need treatment for gum disease you will be booked in to see our Hygienist.

If you are covered by Medical Card or PRSI plans please let us know when you book your appointment, so that we can confirm eligibility before you come in to see us.
